My wife Alicia Johnson has been in the arts one way or another her whole life. She now owns a Gallery in Portland where she shows some of the brightest emerging artist. We decided that sometimes ideas need to span and break out of the brick and mortar that they had originated in and cross boarders in order to reach the right audience. Alicia created Alicia Blue Productions in order to do this. The mission is simple, combine my love for film and her love for art and interview the artist that we feel are influencing the culture today.

Here is the first of many to come. Please enjoy this short documentary of Kevin Taylor.

Dexter

I had the pleasure of designing a few style frames for a possible new Dexter show open. I was a bit torn on this project due to the current Show Open is one of my Favorites and I wouldn’t like it if someone went and changed it… With that said if they were to change it I would be honored to be the guy to do it These boards were a bit of a rush job, had about 24hours to turn it around. would have liked to spend a bit more time on them but I’m happy with the result.

Alvin and the Chipmunks

I was a freelance Art Director for Picture Mill some years ago and this is one of the films I worked on. Picture mill does movie titles and show opens. I did a lot of pitches and to talk to a lot of heads of departments. Nothing like being in a small room with some of the most powerful people in the biz and present them your ideas.

Here’s one that landed. Alvin and the Chipmunks movie 01. I boarded the initial concepts, pitched the idea, managed the team and did some of the motion work for the Travel montage you see below. I have to give props to my team, they really did all the hard work on this spot and put the spit and polish on it.

iPhone and Gelaskins

Sway hired me to take an animation of an iPhone flying through the air and make it more interesting. I decided it would be interesting to play with not only selling the iPhone but also GelaSkins as well. what I gave them back is what you see below. View final below.

I think it turned out alright! Those guys at sway really know how to make a product look real. You should see their car work! In fact click here and check them out.

A WATERFALL TO REMEMBER

Here in Portland there are a series of waterfalls just out of town. My Friend Geoff and I took his son Jago for a hike up to the falls. It was so beautiful I found myself yet again filming everything I saw. I had to keep reminding myself to view nature with my own eyes and not through the iridescent back light of a camera screen.

This truly was a magical day and a Waterfall to remember.
