Mutt Industries came to me with a very ambitious project: put a basketball player in Nike Lunarlon Hyperdunk shoes on the moon. With a quick turnaround time (2 weeks from shoot to hand-off of the final edit) I knew this would be a serious challenge, but hey, I like challenges! Working with my team at CBC we spent many hours before the shot prepping each shot. Sketching out each shot then creating everything in 3D to dial in our camera moves. I'm a big fan of finishing the spot before we even set out to shoot. No surprises!
After the initial shoot, my team took the reins on the monumental charge of transforming the footage of a guy running around on a stark blue sound stage into a space-traveling super-athlete making a 50-foot dunk on the moon. We finished the spot just in time, and we couldn’t be happier with the finished results. See the behind the scenes footage here.
A big thank you to Mutt for bringing me this project, and thanks to my hard-working team, who put in nights and weekends to dial in the thousands of details in every shot!
